There are a few critical decisions you have to make before building a ball mill for pyro use. Obviously, a ball mill requires a jar or jars & enough grinding media to fill …
Page 16 of 43 - Ball Mills - posted in Pyro Tools: I?m experimentating with this type of motors right now, too. I got two of them 4 free. They are a bit too slow (about 80upm) but are quite powerfull. One motor can rotate a jar with 150 14 and 15mm stainless steel balls easily. I mounted the motor directly to the jar.It works well and these motors are …
A/C motor for ball mill? - posted in Tools and Tooling: I am an HV/AC technician and I have easy access to 1075RPM and 825RPm, 240V motors. Could I make a ball mill with these motors, or are they far too fast? Im not an expert on electrical motors, but could I underpower or use another method to slow them down some? I …
January 13, 2010. you realy need a ball mill, its cuts down time and cost, a harbor freight rocktumber/ballmill can be bought for $20-$40, As apposed to a coffee grinder thats about $10 per grinder. also some compositions must be ball milled. The Harbor Freight Tumbler says 3 Lbs capacity but the size is 4.5" x 4.75".
Page 3 of 43 - Ball Mills - posted in Pyro Tools: Just thought of an idea for a ball mill motor. Would one from a food mixer (not processor or blender) work? Just wondering if it would be able to keep going for a few hours becuase I would not have to bother with gears. Stuart
Transformer? You should buy a motor that will run on regular voltage - 110V (120, 130) in north america, or 220(230,240)V in europe. Then wire on a power cord and plug it in. I agree, too, that 1/10-1/4 HP is plenty of power for nearly any ball mill. Maybe if you're swinging an 8 or 12" drum, you may need more, but I doubt it.
The ball mill is powered by a 12V accumulator, because of the terrible noise it produces while milling. ... 10 lbs of media will be a cross between overloading the motor and bearings and underloading the mill so it will not grind properly. ... Ned Gorski of the Bluegrass Pyro's wrote about his experience with the same thing on Passfire a few ...
Lubrication of the rod ends is just 3-in-one oil or any silicone oil. Do so every few runs, don't overload your motor, and those crappy Chicom motors might last you for years. My first HF mill came with 4 or 5 extra rubber drive belts and I never changed one before it got retired after probably 300 hours of use.
Pyrotechnics. What ball mill should I buy? I have been wanting to buy a ball mill, and I would like to see what you guys would recommend this one I found on eBay …
Charcoal and potassium nitrate can be purchased pre-milled now, as well. Using a rock tumbler, you can make black powder faster by milling the charcoal and potassium nitrate separately. 3 component milling takes much longer to make good powder. Don't anybody get your knickers in a twist over that statement.

Most Expensive / Best Way / Most Efficient: Buy a mill and a jar, and buy lead media. ($$$) FWIW: If you do buy a rock polisher online, make sure it's one you can modify (motor and rods) because they won't spin fast enough for efficient B.P. milling after your first or second time making B.P. (if it spins the mill with lead media at all)

The yield is lower, but the ease and speed more than makes up for it. To answer a few more questions, nozzleless rockets typically require faster fuels. Milled BP is sort of the standard. I personally don't believe a ball mill is NECESSARILY required for hot BP, but something of a comparable speed is required.

For instance, if your jar had in inside diameter of 90 mm and your milling media was 12.7 mm diameter lead balls, the optimum rotation would be 98 RPM. Optimum RPM= .65 x Critical speed (cascading action of the media stops) Critical speed = 265.45/sqrt (Jar I.D. - Media O.D.) with dimensions in inches.

You'd probably want to run at 'optimum speed' for dry powders, which is about 65% of critical speed. With the diameter of your media (1/2" balls ?) and the INTERIOR diameter of your mill jar, you can calculate the critical speed required, and the by multiplying this by 0.65, you'd arrive at a reasonably optimum speed.
In Pokémon UNITE, Pyro Ball is Cinderace's first move. It is obtained by evolving from Raboot at level 7 and upgrading Ember into it instead of Blaze Kick. The user kicks a ball of flame in a designated direction, burning and damaging enemies hit. At level 11, after this move hits, the cooldown on user's other move is decreased. In the anime
